Lime Kiln Stabilisation

Design and detailing of steelwork repairs to a 65m high lime kiln for British Sugar, required as a result of deformation and tearing of the plated structure. Work involved the analysis of the thin walled structure and the design of stiffeners to prevent further deformation of the walls, as well as replacement steel wall plates and remedial strengthening where wall plates were tearing as a result of stress concentrations around a maintenance hatch.
