River Nene Lock Inspections

3 locks on the River Nene in Northamptonshire were inspected by Stirling Maynard on behalf of JBA Bentley JV. The locks are under the control of EA and are generally inspected when periodically emptied for maintenance purposes. Stirling Maynard had previously inspected the locks in the early 2000’s, and were hence approached by JBA Bentley JV to undertake a repeat exercise in 2017. The work included a visual inspection on site and preparation of an extensive photo database. A written report was provided for each lock containing defect drawings and photographs. Laser scanning of each lock was also undertaken and photos of defects referenced to the 3D model created by Laser scanning so that in future inspections defects can be compared to the comprehensive record provided by the latest survey.
