English Heritage – Tender Secured
Wrest Park is one of England’s most magnificent gardens developed in the early eighteenth century spread over 150 acres, and English Heritage are currently restoring a number of key features including the Grade I listed French style mansion and a number of the lakes and canals.
The first stage of the project is to carry out a feasibility study to examine options for the restoration of the Broadwater and Ladies Lakes, including a possible reconnection of the lakes to the nearby River Hit.
The large Broadwater Lake was part of the original natural landscaping style within the gardens which was at the time modelled by Capability Brown.
